PILGRIMAGE
OF PEACE 2010
~ led by Br. Stefan Andre Waligur
Come to the Party! Come to the Feast! All are welcome!
This is the grand invitation of the Gospel and it is our invitation to come to the beautiful grounds of Wellspring anytime between July 23 -August 22. Live into a monastic rhythm of singing and chanting morning, mid-day and evening. Share each day in dialogue and reflection on the Biblical themes of peacemaking, justice, community life, sustainable living, and the interior life. Following the pattern of life lived in the Community of Taizé in France each day will be a balance of sung prayer, silence, conversation, work and play . There will be special times for young people to gather.
Can a new ecumenical monastic community like Taizé be born here in the United States? Last August at Rolling Ridge Retreat Center in W VA over 300 people came to a Pilgrimage of Peace led by Br. Stefan in which this question was asked. The overwhelming response was an emphatic " Yes!" An important part of our experience this summer will be to consider this question and this calling.
Today, there is a fresh breeze stirring. A major shift in our way of living on this planet is in fact happening: a new monasticism, new sustainable communities are beginning, and an emerging church is forming. All this, combined with a growing awareness and integration of other faith traditions and practices both ancient and new, is giving shape to whole new possibilities in our imaginings and our living. Come join us as we reflect together and live into this new beginning.
There is no set fee for this - but please do register so that we can accommodate
as many people as possible! While a suggested donation of $35/night or $10/day
is requested to facilitate costs, we welcome everyone regardless of financial
ability. Those with more are encouraged to contribute more to help those with
less. The people who gather will bring and prepare food to contribute to common
meals. This too is the Gospel!
You are most welcome in this place. For more details and registration
