What's in a Name?

"Wellspring Orientation"…........ ............."Wellspring Gathering"…. ....."Becoming the Gospel"….Each one of the names given to Wellspring's foundational event over the years is based upon the same theological underpinnings that gave rise to the miracle that has been The Church of the Saviour.

"Becoming the Gospel" seems to most adequately speak to our mission of helping the church to be the church in the most loving, creative and life-giving ways possible. Generally, folks like to come to the center for our Thursday through Sunday version of this event presented several times a year. That is not always practical, and so, we occasionally offer weekend events at the center.

Though it seems to us that there is nothing like doing this work on the gorgeous land at Wellspring, that is not always practical when large numbers of people desire to share in one of our events. So, yes, a team of presenters can come from Wellspring to YOU and your church — sometimes for a day, a weekend, with or without Sunday service. Let's talk about how we can support you in offering new life to yourself, your church.

Those on our mailing list receive the Wellspring Newsletter which includes articles on the joys and struggles of living a balanced life in Christian community along with event information. We send more than 3,000 newsletters several times per year. In this age of conspicuous consumption, Wellspring invites our newsletter recipients to request their copy electronically.

				We Offer Becoming the Gospel 3-day events : June 12-15 and July 14-17 Weekend event: October 3-5 In a world that cries out for redistribution of life's necessities, healing of the land, and for non-violent ways of addressing differences, we Christians look to the example given in the life and ministry of Jesus. Over the years many people have struggled with the question: "How can I - how can my church - be a force for change that transforms the fear and greed of our world into shalom ~ peace, healthy relationships within the created order, wholeness of mind, body and spirit?" We at Wellspring, are here to serve the people who are church to be the church in ways that transform lives. The foundation of our efforts is lived out in an event that we call Becoming the Gospel. This event has, over the past 35 years, assisted thousands of people from around the world to encounter the God of power-filled transformation who empowers us to be good news in our world. *What does a Becoming the Gospel* event involve? We assist your listening ~ Wellspring provides a place of beauty and hospitality in which one can find holy rest in a time spent in silence listening for and to God individually and in companionable silence. We engage with the work of call ~ Where does the God of justice touch my heart? To whom and with whom am I sent with the message that each one of us was born in love, by love and for love? How do I know it's God calling? We become a small learning community** that will be with one another in the deep places of life. Seasoned leaders offer the catalyst for the work of reflection and sharing that engenders creativity and clarity, sometimes even healing. Always seeking to live a balanced life, we create a space for lightheartedness that is a necessity for life ~ especially in community! The 2-day version of the October event will begin with supper on Friday and conclude on Sunday after lunch. For those who desire to experience first hand some of the ministries of The Church of the Saviour, please let us know that when you register. That requires arriving on Thursday rather than Friday for the 2-day event. Wellspring offers: A Midweek Becoming the Gospel July 14-17, 2008 This "Becoming the Gospel" event includes the same spiritual practices, Holy Silence, a visit to vibrant inner city missions, work on call, ways to form and deepen your life in community as described above. Won't you join us? Fees and Registration Information:Cost of the 2-day Becoming the Gospel event is $225 and the 3 day event is $300. Some scholarship is available for those who cannot pay the entire fee. August 11-16, 2008 Friends of Wellspring have begun signing up to join in the joyful, sometimes hard work of "sprucing up" our buildings and grounds! Would you like to paint a labyrinth, wash some windows or change a myriad of light bulbs ? Perhaps you prefer weeding and trimming at the Jacob's Well garden or our amazing vegetable garden! There will be plenty of other ways to offer a few hours of work each day. We will also enjoy sharing Taizé style worship, delicious meals, learning communities and experiences around various topics and ways to nurture faith ~ and we pace ourselves so that there will be time for lots of fun! ~ Time for work, for silence, for sharing in many ways, for giving thanks ~ FREE ROOM & BOARD!
